Planning Behind the Image
These aren't lucky shots. It's about understanding alignment where to be and when to shoot.
Plan
Using specialized alignment software, calculate the exact position, date, and time when the moon will align with the chosen landmark.
Scout
Visit the location in advance. Verify sightlines, check for obstructions, and identify the exact shooting position for the perfect composition.
Execute
Arrive early, set up equipment, and wait for the alignment window — often lasting only seconds. Precision timing is everything.

I’m Mohit Prasad, known to everyone as “Moda.” I’m a Sydney-based photographer with a love for capturing moments that feel a little extraordinary.
While I enjoy photographing landscapes, cityscapes and wildlife, I found a special connection with the full moon. I fell in love not only with photographing it, but also with the planning, patience and anticipation of being at exactly the right place at the right time.
Using my moon-chasing skills, I’ve successfully planned and photographed the moon aligned with some of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks.
Over time, this passion has become something I love sharing with others. Through photography meet-ups, guided shoots and workshops, I help fellow photographers understand the planning behind these images and experience that same excitement when a carefully planned alignment finally unfolds through their own camera.
For me, there’s something magical about seeing hours of planning come together in just a few seconds — with a little bit of luck along the way.
And that feeling is what keeps me chasing the moon.
